Federal Polytechnic Monguno has successfully conducted its 3rd Matriculation Ceremony formally admitting its newly enrolled students into the polytechnic for the 2025/2026 academic session yesterday in Monguno town.
The ceremony represents a memorable occasion as it became the first academic event of its kind conducted under the leadership of the Polytechnic’s second set of Principal Officers, who commenced their tenure on 17th March, 2026, with a renewed commitment to advancing the institution’s academic growth and development.
Speaking during the occasion, the Rector, Dr. Alhaji Umar Bukar congratulates the newly admitted students and urged them to remain focused on their studies while upholding the values of discipline, integrity and excellence. He stated that their admission into the Polytechnic was a testament to their determination to acquire knowledge and practical skills necessary for personal and national development.
He further warned the students against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, violence and other social vices, stressing that the Polytechnic maintains zero tolerance for any form of misconduct capable of undermining its academic standards and reputation.
The Rector reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to providing quality education aimed at producing competent graduates equipped with the skills required to contribute meaningfully to national development. He noted that despite its relatively young age, the Polytechnic has continued to witness remarkable progress through the expansion of academic programmes, infrastructural development and improved institutional capacity.
He disclosed that the management has embarked on strategic initiatives designed to reposition the institution for greater success. These initiatives include strengthening academic quality assurance mechanisms, promoting staff development, encouraging research and innovation, improving students’ welfare, increasing internally generated revenue and accelerating infrastructure projects.
Dr. Alhaji Umar Bukar has expressed appreciation to the chairman and members of the Governing Council, the Federal Government, Federal Ministry of Education, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Tetfund, Borno State Government, traditional institutions, security agencies, development partners and the host community for their continuous support and commitment to the advancement of the Polytechnic.
Earlier in his remarks, the Registrar, Mala Garba Hussaini, congratulated the matriculating students and advised them to be law-abiding, disciplined and dedicated to their academic responsibilities. He encouraged them to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations of the institution and strive to become exemplary ambassadors of the Polytechnic.
The Matriculation Oath was administered by the Principal Legal Officer of the Polytechnic, Barrister Babagana Shettima, officially inducting the students into the Polytechnic community.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Rector, Musa Mohammed Grandawa; the Registrar, Mala Garba Hussaini; Polytechnic Librarian, Hajiya Zainab Usman Mahmood; the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Alhaji Modu Maina; the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Babagana Mustapha; the Deputy Registrar, Adm. Babagana Talba Monguno and Heads of Department.
Others include; the Provost of the College of Nursing Science Monguno, the District Head of Monguno, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Monguno, parents, guardians and members of staff.
