For Improved Service Delivery, Fedpoly Monguno Holds A 2-Day Training For Bursary Staff On GIFMIS Modules

The Federal Polytechnic Monguno, Borno State holds a 2-day training for the staff of Bursary Department on using the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) modules to fast track procurement process, asset inventory and others.

The 2-day training programme that commenced on Wednesday, 18th of January, 2023 was declared open by the Bursar of the institution at the Polytechnic Guest House.

GIFMIS is an IT based system for budget management and accounting that is being implemented by the Federal Government to improve Public Expenditure Management Processes, enhance greater accountability and transparency across Ministries and Departments.

Speaking at the end of the training programme, the Bursar, Mohammed Ali Abadam said, GIFMIS training will aid strategic management of public financial resources for enhanced accountability, transparency and cost-effective public service delivery. The Bursar thanks the Rector, Prof. Garba M. Ngala for his immense support towards putting the training in place. ” I am sure that the participants have moved beyond where they used to be and they will never remain the same again after the training ” the Bursar added.

The lead resource person at the training, who is the State Support Officer said, the GIFMIS, which takes into cognizance all steps in the expenditure cycle – budget appropriations, financing limits, commitments, verification and payment transactions – is aimed at using automated and integrated information management systems to improve the acquisition, allocation, utilization and conservation of public financial resources. He added that the programme provides an opportunity for bursary and other related personnel to improve the quality of their work seamlessly and efficiently and urged the participants to take the exercise seriously and bring the knowledge gained into play.
